About Rebecca Zemans Jewelry
You are creating a life story; Rebecca makes the heirlooms to accompany you on that journey. After making large scale sculpture for many years, she realized shrinking the scale of her work to jewelry size would allow her to make art that is accessible to everyone. Strong and delicate, ancient and modern - her designs are contemporary with a classic look. Each piece of Rebecca Zemans Jewelry tells its own story and becomes a one-of-a-kind, wearable work of art. When she made her own wedding rings, she understood how incredibly special it was to be able to continue the ancient metalsmithing tradition by assisting others in creating the rings they would wear everyday and pass down to future generations. Rebecca taught art for many years before making jewelry full-time and continues to educate her customers in all aspects of the design process making it easy and fun. What makes Rebecca truly unique is her experience and understanding of both metal fabrication processes as well as lost-wax casting so that whatever you’re are imagining, she can make it come to life. Her jewelry and mixed media sculpture can be found in public and private collections around the world. She studied at the University of Michigan, earning dual degrees in Metalsmithing and Cultural Anthropology. She is also a former studio member of The Crucible in Oakland, California. Currently, her studio is located on the third floor of Lillstreet Art Center, a shared learning community of artists in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago.
Thoughtfully designed for you and crafted to last forever, each piece is made by hand in Chicago. All metals used in the designs are recycled and fair-mined. We specialize in resetting old stones, or we can help you find the perfect conflict-free stones as well. Whenever possible, we encourage our customers to reuse, repurpose, and reimagine materials from their inherited jewelry for custom designs.
The opportunity to work with an artist through every step of the process makes the jewelry not only unique but also extremely customizable. We don’t keep an inventory of rings or stones, so we can honor every budget. We consciously do not overproduce the jewelry collection, following the Slow Fashion movement of designing, creating, and buying for quality, longevity, and reduced waste. The studio practices reflect the eco-conscious jewelry as well. Among the many green standards we adhere to such as energy efficient lighting, recycling, using public transit and eco-friendly office products, we also save our sweep to refine as it’s filled with gold and silver dust.
We are as committed to exceptional customer service as we are to reducing our carbon footprint. We give every customer complete dedication and care, from design to completion. The final product is packaged in jewelry boxes made from recycled paper or fair-trade wood boxes from sustainable forests in Guatemala. Shipping materials are reused and recycled. All forms, invoices, and receipts are sent electronically to eliminate paper waste.
